What Cristina Edelstein-Skurat Has Done to Gradually Step Away From Her Business

"If your goal is to have a business that's profitable and that you don't feel enslaved to it, and one that also has purpose and meaning outside of the business itself, Lars is really good at that. He's a visionary man."

Cristina Edelstein-Skurat (Minneapolis) has been coaching with Lars for over a year and has over five years of experience with residential real estate with her husband, Kerby Skurat. They had been coaching with a different company that was great at helping them sell more homes, but they'd found that their real estate business had begun to take up too much time in their lives. They wanted to turn towards a system that would allow them to step away from their business but also allow for the business to continue to flourish.

Cristina and Kerby were doing well before they worked with Lars, selling 192 homes in 2013. However, when they began coaching with Lars in 2014 they managed to sell 266 homes while also building a team. Kerby decided last year that he wanted to remove himself from the team, so they've been focusing on recruiting and building a type of team that's capable of running the business without them being in the office every day.

"Lars is all about keeping it simple and finding the systems that actually do work, and not building your team so that it's dependent on specific people, but it's dependent upon a system."

Cristina likes the fact that the systems make up the core of the business and not the people running it. She realizes that agents will come and go, and instead of losing a very talented agent and being in a tight spot, they can rely on their systems to keep the business healthy. Instead of chasing the next shiny marketing tool, Cristina has found that she's now more focused on building a sustainable business.

"With Kerby no longer being the top sales agent in our business, the stress level in our home has dropped a lot....so it's been good in that sense."

By applying Lars' systems and building a team, Cristina and Kerby have cut down their work load dramatically without also cutting into the quality of their core product. They no longer have to make buyer calls, or attend buyer appointments, and Cristina is slowly beginning to remove herself from the business, as she has taken Wednesdays off and will also be taking Sundays off in the future.

"Just listen to Lars and keep it simple."

Cristina says that if you just listen to Lars and implement the plans that you've written down after speaking with him, then everything else will just fall into place.

"If your goal is to have a business that's profitable and that you don't feel enslaved to it, and one that also has purpose and meaning outside of the business itself, Lars is really good at that. He's a visionary man."

Cristina likes the fact that Lars is driven by his faith and his core values, and that his coaching system is not one that focuses on making more money, but building a solid business.

Another thing that Cristina enjoys is the freedom that comes along with the program, and she thinks that is a sign of its success. She is on track to sell over 300 homes this year while doing less work than she had done before, so she considers this a major indicator that Lars' systems and coaching are working quite well.
