How Chris Upham Began Tracking His Business to Improve Systems and Profitability

"Within a few months, I was able to hit my profitability targets through my coaching with Lars.
He's really focusing on what are the basic, foundational things that you have to have."

Chris Upham (Washington D.C.) first met Lars four years ago in a coaching group that they were both part of. Lars had won the King Kong award for growing his business by bounds and leaps year-over-year, and this impressed Chris. Later on during a Mastermind group meeting, Chris encountered Lars again and was impressed at what he had to say when it was his turn to speak to the group.

"He was really 'walking the walk' in terms of having a business that was very productive, very profitable, but also what intrigued me was how he was building and growing wealth."

Chris knew he was having some trouble tracking his business in the way that he wanted to, and when he saw another client of Lars' using it at a coaching conference, he knew he had to start using it. Although Chris went and saw a bookkeeper on a monthly basis, he still wasn't tracking well enough and he also wasn't able to project his numbers for the future.

This was when Chris finally decided to work with Lars, and the first thing that Lars did was to look at his expenses and cut out unnecessary spending.

"I'm happy to say that within a few months I was able to hit my profitability targets through my coaching with Lars."

Chris was also having trouble because he was spending money on the "latest and greatest" systems and tools that really didn't have the ROI that they appeared to have. Lars began to show him that he didn't need the shiny systems that didn't produce results, and taught him the core systems that he had used to build his business.

Finally, Lars showed Chris what systems and tools he needed to use in order to have a systems-based business that he could step away from and still have it run smoothly.

Chris also attended the High Performance Intensive Workshop, and it has helped him to write down his goals and made him more driven to succeed. It has also aided him in pinpointing the values in his business that he wants to strengthen, and also his personal values and beliefs that he needs to take his business to the next level. Chris never really has the time to think about these issues within his business, so he found this aspect of the conference particularly refreshing.

"These are the kinds of things that you have to have if you're going to build a large, world-class business. But the truth is that most of us are just so busy with business we never take the time to do it."

What Chris appreciates the most about Lars' coaching program is that he focuses on simple systems that create a profitable and productive business.

"He's not about chasing squirrels or shiny objects or getting the latest gadget to become an overnight millionaire. He's really focusing on what are the basic, foundational things that you have to have."

Chris says the result of this is that your business is more profitable and the agents on your team will work more productively.
